The Muy Grande Deer Contest — Rules and Regulations



 
 

MEMBERSHIP & REGISTRATION

1.       Hunters & Ranchers can register online at www.muygrandevillage.com/join-now
2.       Registration is $26.00 per hunter, including youth.
3.       All participants must register for the Muy Grande Deer Contest BEFORE harvesting their animal in order to be eligible for the contest.
Absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS!
4.       A hunter is considered registered for the Muy Grande Deer Contest at the exact time that payment is received online.
5.       All registered hunters are eligible to win only 1 category per animal harvested. Additional animals are eligible to qualify the hunter for other
categories.
6.       All registered hunters must comply with the rules & regulations set forth by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, or in accordance with appropriate
rules in which State the animal(s) is/are harvested – including Mexico.
7.       A hunter must have a valid Hunting License in the State in which the animal(s) is/are harvested.
8.       A landowner may register his/her hunters for the current season. All hunters will be registered under the landowner’s name or ranch’s name. Animals
entered in the contest by the hunter from other ranch names will not be allowed, unless the hunter pays membership fees separately.

SCORING

1.       Scoring will be done between the hours of 9:00am – 8:00pm.
2.       In the event that a registered hunter is unable to bring their animal to the Muy Grande Headquarters to be scored, scoresheets from a certified
TBGA scorer will be accepted. Please send in your paperwork within 14 DAYS of hunt. SCORESHEETS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
AFTER THE CONTEST HAS ENDED.
3.       In the event that a submitted scoresheet is questionable, the Muy Grande reserves the right to request that the hunter’s deer be brought to the
Muy Grande Headquarters to be re-scored by one of our own scorers.
4.       All scoresheets and photographs of registered entries and their animal become property of Muy Grande, Inc. and may be used for any future
promotions and/or advertisements.
5.       Any deer that has been a part of any TPWD program(s), must be 100% NATIVE to Texas to compete in any division other than the Macho Grande Div.
6.       In the event that a harvested animal is in question, Landowners or Biologists may be asked to sign and provide verification that the deer entered in
the Muy Grande Deer Contest is a native whitetail deer, was at any time involved in a breeding program, or subsequently released.
Ranch Permits may be requested.

7. All deer will be placed in the appropriate divisions & categories, as determined by Muy Grande, Inc. and its panel of judges.

WINNERS

1.        At the end of the contest, all hunters will be declared winners once all scoresheets and categories have been reviewed and finalized.
An announcement will be made via website/social media that the contest has been finalized and each hunter is declared a winner.
2.       Muy Grande, Inc. reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value.
3.       All shipping costs will be paid by the winner in the event that they cannot attend the Muy Grande Awards Ceremony. WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE
ALL WINNERS TO ATTEND THE AWARDS BANQUET OR HAVE SOMEONE ACCEPT THE AWARD ON THEIR BEHALF.
4.       Winners have 180 days from the date of the Awards Banquet to pick up or request the shipping of their prizes, at the winner’s expense.

CONTEST

1.       Points = a minimum of one inch (1”) in length.
2.       For Widest Spread Categories, the spread is determined by measuring the outside width of the main beams.
3.       Every animal must be field dressed (no liver, heart, etc.) for weight categories.
4.       All animals considered for weight divisions must be weighed on the Muy Grande Scales. NO EXCEPTIONS.
5.       Trapped, penned, brood, tagged or chemically enhanced deer are not eligible for All Around, High Fence, Low Fence, Pope & Young, Mexico, Youth,
Longest, or Heavy Weight Divisions.
6.       Skull mounts automatically qualify you for the Macho Grande Division or Club Categories, with the exception for Mexico & Out of State Categories.
7.       In the event of a tie, the deer with the larger Gross Score will win 1st Place; the other will take 2nd Place, if applicable.
8.       All hunters 16 years & younger are eligible for the Youth Division and must possess a valid Youth License for the hunting season.
9.       ALL youth entries will be placed in the Kids Korner and featured on our Leader Board and website if his/her animal does not lead in any qualifying
division or category.
10.   For the Longest Shot Category, a video must be submitted. This video must include a range finder measuring the distance & of the hunter harvesting
their buck or doe. This video cannot be edited or cropped into segments.
11.   For the Pope & Young Division, deer must be harvested with compound bows or re-curve bows. Any deer harvested with a cross bow will be placed in
the other rifle divisions.
12.   For the Pope & Young Division, any deer harvested in October can compete in any Pope & Young Category.
13.   The 150+ - 160+ Club is eligible for Pope & Young (archery) deer ONLY.
14.   Best 6 – 10 Pointer Categories in each Division is defined by total points. Deer totaling 6-10 points, whether typical frame or with abnormal points, will
be considered for this category. Broken, non-scorable Points/Tines do not count.
15.   Only registered landowners or registered hunters living in Duval County are eligible for Mr./Miss Duval County categories. Adults or youth qualify for
these categories.
16.   To qualify for the Husband & Wife Category, the couple must be legally married, not a common law marriage.
17.   All entries for the Purple Heart Category MUST submit a copy of their DD214 and Purple Heart orders to the Muy Grande Deer Contest in order to
qualify for this category. The MGDC will then confirm that all paperwork and orders are indeed valid.
18.   All entries for the Active-Duty Military Category MUST submit a copy of their Military ID or ERB/ORB to the Muy Grande Deer Contest in order to
qualify for this category. The MGDC will then confirm that all paperwork and orders are indeed valid.
19.   Mexico, Out of State, and Macho Grande deer can only compete in their division. If they get beat, they can be moved to the 170+ - 300+ Clubs ONLY.
20.   Macho Grande Division is for trapped, tagged, penned, brood or chemically enhanced deer, involved in a scientific breeding program, has a TPWD
permit, or has a tag hole or state ID tattoo.
21.   For the Muy Grande All Around Categories, the formula is as follows:
